As a global automotive company, GM is not only committed to bringing its latest products and technology to China, GM is also committed to giving back to the local community.

GM China sets up monthly CSR Council with executives. Committee members provide inputs, approve direction and give support; there is also a full-time CSR function to propose and implement CSR programs.

2007-2009 CSR Footprints in China
  • 124 key local suppliers participate in Green Supply Chain Project by 2009

  • Key eco-system protection projects in Beijing, Shanghai and Yunnan

  • Estimated 300,000 people were reached by GM’s environmental protection education programs

  • Estimated 460,000 families are reached by GM road safety education programs

  • Estimated 60,000 people were directly reached by interactive AIDS awareness education programs; and 100 million of audiences were reached by the A Closer Walk documentary and CHAMP PSAs

  • 247 GM Fellowship recipients from more than 50 universities in China

  • GM advocates volunteerism, initiates volunteers programs in environmental protection, road safety and AIDS awareness education areas
